Recherches

Ecologue de formation et par passion, je m’intéresse à la structure et à la dynamique des communautés végétales et animales (flore, insectes, lichens, oiseaux) dans les écosystèmes terrestres et riverains (forêts boréales, de montagne et alluviales, bancs sédimentaires des rivières, ouvrages utilisant le génie végétal en rivières de montagne). Mes travaux cherchent à comprendre les déterminants de la biodiversité à plusieurs échelles spatiales et temporelles, le long de différents gradients environnementaux. Inscrits dans les champs disciplinaires de l’écologie des communautés et de l’écologie fonctionnelle, mes recherchent mobilisent des approches taxonomiques, via l’étude des patrons de diversité, et fonctionnelles, via l’étude des traits des espèces. Plus spécifiquement, je cherche à comprendre les processus écologiques qui structurent les communautés et la distribution des espèces au sein des écosystèmes naturels et anthropisés. Au-delà d’informer sur les mécanismes dirigeant l’assemblage des communautés, ces connaissances ont une portée opérationnelle en aidant à la définition et à l’adaptation des stratégies de gestion, de conservation ou de restauration des espèces et des habitats.
