Note biographique

Freddy Rey est Directeur de recherche (HDR) en écologie ingénieriale et ingénierie écologique, rattaché au Laboratoire des écosystèmes et des sociétés en montagne (UR LESSEM) d’INRAE, Centre de Grenoble. Il développe des activités de recherche et d’expertise dans le domaine des interactions entre végétation, érosion et sédiments dans les bassins versants torrentiels. Ses thématiques de recherche concernent plus particulièrement le rôle de la végétation et des ouvrages de génie végétal (ou génie biologique) dans le contrôle de l’érosion et de la sédimentation en montagne. Il travaille notamment sur l’ingénierie écologique pour concilier la gestion des milieux aquatiques et la prévention des inondations (GEMAPI). Il est spécialisé dans les Solutions fondées sur la nature (SFN, ou NBS pour Nature-based solutions) pour la protection contre les risques naturels liés à l’eau. Il est le Président-fondateur de l’Association française pour le génie biologique ou génie végétal (AGéBio), ainsi que Vice-Président-fondateur de l’Association fédérative des acteurs de l’ingénierie et du génie écologiques (A-IGEco). Il occupe aujourd’hui la Présidence de la Commission de Gestion des écosystèmes et celle du Groupe de travail sur les Solutions fondées sur la nature au sein du Comité français de l’Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature (UICN).
